Driver jailed 6 months for breach of trust

A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday sentenced a 26-year-old driver, Kabiru Haruna to six months in prison for breach of trust.

The convict pleaded guilty to the charge brought against him by the police.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati sentenced the convict to six months in prison with an option of N50,000 fine.

She also ordered him to pay a compensation of N170,000 to the complainant.

While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ijuptil Thlawur told the court that the case was reported on Sept. 26, at the “C” Division Police Station by one Abdullahi Musa, the complainant.

Thlawur said the now-convicted Haruna linked the complainant with a prospective car buyer, who paid N670,000 into the convict’s account, but he fraudulently withdrew N220,000 without consent.

He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.(NAN)
