The Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA) says it will mobilise more than 100,000 supporters for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Dr Kareem Raji, Director-General, National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) and Chairman of FORCEPA, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja.
He spoke at a news conference ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign kickoff scheduled for Kaduna.
“We are announcing that our people have been in the field, and we are going en masse to Kaduna right from tomorrow to continue mobilising these over 100,000 supporters,” he said.
Raji said the forum, comprising more than 500 chief executives nationwide, was committed to supporting Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for a second term.
He said members had commenced mobilisation and would move to Kaduna to coordinate their activities ahead of the campaign event scheduled for Oct. 24.
Raji recalled that the forum had earlier pledged to mobilise 10 million votes for Tinubu, expressing confidence that the target was achievable through collective efforts.
He said FORCEPA believed leadership continuity would enable the administration to consolidate its economic reforms, strengthen institutions and advance national development.
The chairman said federal agencies had important roles in promoting public understanding of government policies, improving service delivery and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
He added that the forum would continue to encourage public engagement on employment, entrepreneurship, economic opportunities, security and inclusive development.
Raji, however, said public confidence in government must be sustained through accountability, transparency, measurable results and responsiveness to citizens’ concerns.
Speaking on Tinubu’s readiness to drive industrialisation, Prof. Martin Ike-Muonso, Director-General, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), said limited processing of Nigeria’s abundant raw materials had hindered industrialisation and employment generation.
Ike-Muonso said Tinubu had challenged relevant agencies to promote local processing and value addition, citing cocoa as an example of a commodity whose potential economic benefits Nigeria had yet to maximise.
He said the President had directed that raw materials undergo at least 30 per cent value addition before export.
He added that a proposal on the policy had been forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for the necessary legal review.
Also speaking, Mrs Glory Oho, Managing Director, Cross River Basin Development Authority, expressed confidence that women would mobilise in large numbers to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Oho said the proposed target of 10 million supporters could be surpassed, given women’s willingness to participate in the mobilisation exercise.
She said the women were prepared to support the President for a second term, citing their confidence in the administration’s policies.
“The women are ready and available to come up and support Mr President for a second term because a good chance is there,” she said.(NAN)
