The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Tunji Disu, has urged alumni of the Lagos State University (LASU) to be his eyes wherever they are in the task of enhancing policing and security in the country.
Disu spoke while receiving members of the Abuja branch of the alumni association, who came on a tour of the Police Museum at the Force Headquarters.
The I-G, who said he was excited to see many old faces who were at the university with him, restated the commitment of the police to its crime-fighting duties and the protection of citizens.
He said that he remained committed to enhancing professionalism in the police force and urged his schoolmates not to shy away from bringing any observed misconduct to his attention.
Disu said he was proud to be associated with LASU, which had grown from its early days to become an institution that had produced many prominent people in the country.
He said that feedback from alumni of virtually all the schools he had attended contributed greatly to his success while serving in Lagos with the Rapid Response Squad.
“Most of them virtually became policemen because of me, and this helped in quick response,” he said, noting that he really appreciated the support.
Disu went down memory lane, recalling his days at LASU and thanking God for bringing everyone this far.
He thanked the alumni for identifying with him, honouring him and finding time to visit the museum to learn more about the police.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Abuja branch of the alumni association, Mr Oluseun Adesina, thanked Disu for his simplicity and for receiving the members.
He said that the tour of the museum was an eye-opener and educational, while commending the I-G for the reforms he was putting in place.
Adesina said Disu was doing LASU proud and assured him of the members’ support.
Mr Ademola Adeoye, another member of the team, thanked the I-G for his accessibility.
He wished him success in all his endeavours.
