Mr Joshua Ishaku, the newly elected Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has inaugurated the 10th Legislative Assembly of the council.
At the inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday at the Council Secretariat in Bwari, Ishaku charged the 10 Councillors, representing the ten wards of the council to prioritise the welfare of residents and promote grassroots development.
Ishaku advised the Councillors that they had a crucial role to play in ensuring responsive governance and effective service delivery.
He urged them to discharge their legislative responsibilities with integrity, transparency and a strong commitment to the public.
According to him, the success of the council’s administration will depend largely on the level of cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government.
“We have been entrusted with the responsibility of improving the lives of our people, and we must work together to achieve that goal.
“I urge you to remain accessible to your constituents, listen to their concerns and champion policies that will promote development in your respective wards,” he said.
Ishaku pledged to maintain a cordial working relationship with the councillors to ensure smooth implementation of programmes and projects across the area council.
He also assured the staff members that the leadership would foster close working relationship for a successful tenure.
Earlier, Mrs. Grace Oduche, Director Personnel in the council, urged the councillors to be dedicated, maintain integrity, and be committed to the people’s collective good.
“As representatives of the grassroots, you occupy a strategic and indispensable position in the governance structure of our council.
“You are the voice of your constituents, the custodians of their aspirations and the bridge between government and the people.
‘`Your actions, decisions and contributions within the chamber will have a profound impact on the quality of governance and pace of development in our communities,’’ she said.
Oduche charged the councillors on cooperation, mutual respect and shared purpose, assuring them of the management and staff members’ support.
NAN reports that the newly inaugurated councillors included, Mr Danladi Caleb, Mr Dogara Jacob, Mr Obeya Peter, Mr Zakaria Godwin and Mr Babangwari Abdullahi.
Others are, Mr Victor Ishaku, Mr Akuso Ishaya, Mr Emmanuel Yunana, Mr Philip Musa and Mr Ibrahim Adamu.
NAN reports that before the inauguration, the councilors took the Oath of Office which was conducted by Magistrate, Evelyn Dara.
The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, political stakeholders, senior council officials, party supporters and residents from various wards of the council.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
