The Department of Land Administration, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reconstituted its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee to ensure faster, transparent and efficient resolution of land-related disputes across the nation’s capital.
Inaugurating the committee in Abuja on Wednesday, the Director in charge of the department, Mr Chijioke Nwankwoeze, said that the committee was tasked with leading mediation and conciliation efforts between conflicting parties involved in land matters.
According to Nwankwoeze, the committee will meticulously review complaints and petitions, examine all relevant land records, and conduct unbiased interfaces with affected parties.
”Based on these findings, the team will advise management on appropriate and equitable resolutions.”
The director added that the committee would serve as a viable alternative mechanism to traditional litigation.
He added that by shifting away from prolonged court battles, the initiative sort to promote amicable settlements while ensuring strict compliance with mutually agreed terms.
Nwankwoeze noted that the establishment of the committee aligned directly with the broader reform agenda of the FCT Minister, Mr Nyesom Wike.
”The minister’s agenda is heavily focused on sanitising land administration and significantly improving overall service delivery to residents of the territory,” he said.
He affirmed that the committee’s membership selection was based on proven experience, high professional competence, and deep trust in their operational capabilities.
The director expressed strong confidence in the members’ ability to contribute meaningfully toward fulfilling their mandate.
He emphasised that their work was vital in ensuring the peaceful resolution of various land administration issues currently affecting the FCT.
”This initiative reinforces the department’s steadfast commitment to transparency, fairness, and the rule of law, as well as aligns directly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Mr Samuel Agbana, thanked the director for the trust reposed in the team.
Agbana assured the management that the committee would execute its duties with utmost transparency, fairness, and professionalism.
He affirmed that the committee would operate without fear or favor to deliver speedy and amicable resolutions in strict accordance with its terms of reference.(NAN)
