FG intensifies performance monitoring, accountability across MDAs

The Federal Government has intensified efforts to strengthen accountability, efficiency and measurable performance across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Princess Zahrah Audu, said this in a statement she issued on Friday in Abuja.

Audu spoke at a high-level strategic engagement on MDA data collection and harmonisation held in Abuja and hosted by the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The engagement focused on improving institutional performance and ensuring sustained compliance with government reforms.

The DG of PEBEC presented findings from the Business Environment Enhancement Programme Accelerator (BEEPA), highlighting progress recorded across MDAs and persistent service delivery gaps.

“The assessment showed that 16 MDAs achieved full implementation of the assessed reforms.

“However, recent mystery shopping findings revealed a decline in responsiveness after the conclusion of active monitoring.

“The findings underscored the need to move beyond periodic compliance checks to sustained institutional performance,” she said.

Audu reminded MDA heads of the ongoing mystery shopping exercises, the live performance tracker and the forthcoming year-end Business Facilitation Act (BFA) Compliance Ranking.

She said the mechanisms were designed to track institutional performance, identify service delivery gaps and ensure accountability for reform commitments.

“The engagement also highlighted the Federal Ministry of Finance’s increasing emphasis on agency performance, responsiveness and compliance with reforms.

“The approach aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s position that non-performance across government institutions would not be tolerated.

“PEBEC will continue using mystery shopping, digital performance tracking and data-driven assessments to identify implementation gaps and improve service delivery,” she said.

The council’s boss reiterated its commitment to working with government institutions to strengthen transparency, efficiency and the business environment for citizens and enterprises.(NAN)(www.nannews,ng)
