Lagos State Youth Ambassadors have commenced a leadership study tour at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.

According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development on Tuesday, the leadership programme began on Monday, July 6.

The programme is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to equip young leaders with knowledge, skills and global exposure for governance and sustainable development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development is facilitating the international leadership programme for the Youth Ambassadors.

The programme seeks to strengthen participants’ leadership capacity through sessions on public policy, project management, civic engagement, innovation and emerging global trends.

The opening session had the theme: “Understanding the Lagos Context from a Global Perspective: Challenges and Opportunities”.

It introduced participants to comparative governance models and encouraged them to examine Lagos’ development challenges and identify globally relevant solutions.

The Youth Ambassadors will receive practical training in design thinking, digital and artificial intelligence-enabled innovation, personal leadership and cognitive bias awareness.

They will also undergo training in project management and other strategic competencies to support impactful community-based projects and Lagos’ socio-economic development.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, described the programme as evidence of government’s commitment to raising competent and socially responsible young leaders.

Ogunlende said the initiative would help produce innovative young people capable of driving positive change across Lagos State.

He said exposure to international best practices aligned with the administration’s THEMES plus development agenda and prepared youths for leadership in an interconnected world.

NAN reports that THEMES stands for: Traffic Management and Transportation, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos 21st century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism, Security and Governance.

The ministry appreciated Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for their leadership and investment in youth development.

It said the investments had continued to provide global learning opportunities for young Lagosians through youth-focused initiatives.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to programmes that would empower young people with leadership capacity, knowledge and innovative mindsets.

It said the initiatives would support the building of a prosperous, inclusive and globally competitive Lagos State(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
