A man, Abubakar Lukman, on Tuesday dragged his ex-fiancée, Fatima Muhammad, before a Shari’a Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State seeking the return of wedding “gift” items given to her family.
Lukman told the court that both their parents had been involved in the preparations for the wedding, but he later discovered that his wife-to-be had certain habits that he could not condone in a wife.
” I decided to call off the wedding,” he said.
He asked the court to order the defendant to return foodstuffs, an electric kettle, a gas cylinder, a floor rug, sweets, buckets, and dates given during the marriage introduction.
The defendant’s counsel, Mr Sani Sanusi, denied the allegation saying all the items had been returned to the complainant.
The presiding Judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, adjourned the matter until Sept. 25 for Lukman to present witnesses or evidence to prove that the items were not returned.(NAN)www.nannews.ng
