The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to efficient, timely and people-centred service delivery.
The Director-General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, gave the assurance on Thursday in Abuja during the 2026 Customer Service Week.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the celebration was held at NEMA headquarters with the theme, ‘Go the Extra Mile’.
Umar, represented by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr Aminu Boyi Ringim, said NEMA had strengthened its operational processes and institutional capacity.
She commended NEMA personnel for their dedication, saying achievements in disaster preparedness and emergency response resulted from collective efforts.
Umar also appreciated stakeholders and partner organisations for their sustained collaboration in disaster management.

Earlier, the Deputy Director, Special Duties, Dr Thickman Tanimu, said the week provided an opportunity to celebrate staff and stakeholders’ contributions.
Tanimu said the celebration reinforced NEMA’s mandate of protecting lives and property during emergencies.
In her goodwill message, Mrs Bimbo Oladeji, Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NiMet, described the theme as a timely reminder.
Oladeji, who represented NiMet Director-General, Prof. Charles Anosike, stressed the need for stronger collaboration between NiMet and NEMA.
She said NiMet provided critical weather information supporting NEMA’s early warning and emergency response efforts.
“NEMA’s role is significant in building a safer and resilient Nigeria,” she said.
Also, Mrs Hassana Ismail, representing the FCT Controller, Federal Fire Service, described citizens as NEMA’s core customers.
Ismail said complex emergencies demanded unified command and robust inter-agency collaboration to save lives.
She commended NEMA under Umar’s leadership for its commitment to internal preparedness, including recent evacuation simulation drills.
In her remarks, the Acting National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs Helen Lawal, said Customer Service Week reminded public servants of their purpose.
Lawal, represented by Mrs Atuluku Blessing, SERVICOM Desk Officer at NEMA, urged staff to make going the extra mile a culture.
She said every interaction was an opportunity to strengthen citizens’ confidence in government.
NAN reports that the event featured goodwill messages from stakeholders and the cutting of the Customer Service Week cake. (NAN)
