The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), FCT Chapter, Rev. Timothy Amakom, has urged Christians to remain steadfast and intentional in praying for Nigeria.
Amakom gave the advice during a “Solemn Assembly Prayer Conference” organised by the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (CPFN) and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) block in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, prayer remain the ultimate spiritual weapon for sustaining peace, stability, and national progress.
He defined prayer as a divine authority entrusted to believers to transform difficult situations and dismantle spiritual strongholds.
Citing biblical passages, including the Book of Jeremiah, Amakom reminded attendees that God promises to hear and deliver those who seek Him wholeheartedly.
He stressed that ongoing prayers by Christians in Nigeria had continued to preserve the nation’s peace in spite of regional and global instabilities.
“God answers prayers in His own time and in His own way. I encourage believers not to become weary or demoralised by prevailing challenges,” he said.
Amakom commended the vision behind convening the Christian faithful in a unified atmosphere of worship and intercession.
He noted that the initiative demonstrated a genuine commitment to both the welfare of believers and the overall well-being of the nation.
He prayed that the light of God would continue to shine upon the nation, the church, and individual lives.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the CPFN/PFN block, Abuja Chapter, Pastor Joseph Fadipe, urged Christians to be proactive in prayer, describing constant prayer as the engine room of the church.
Fadipe noted that the church must maintain a fervent spiritual posture to withstand contemporary challenges, while commending the resilience and dedication of the fellowship members.
He warned against spiritual apathy, noting that one of the primary tactics of the enemy in modern times was to weaken the prayer life of believers.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of CPFN/PFN FCT, Pastor Gabriel Aboderin, urged Christians to actively engage in prayer to translate God’s promises into physical manifestation.
Aboderin, who is also the Regional Superintendent of the Christ Apostolic Church, Medaiyese Regional Headquarters, Abuja, explained that God consistently prompts His people to pray whenever He intends to execute His divine plans.
Citing Jeremiah 29:11–12, the cleric stated that while God’s thoughts toward His people are for peace and a bright future, those scriptural assurances require activation through prayer.
He expressed confidence that God, who answers prayers, would grant the requests of the fellowship as members gather with a unified purpose.
Similarly, the PFN Leader in Abuja, Apostle Israel Abam, who led a prayer session for Nigeria and its leadership, emphasised the need for Christians to pray for national leaders rather than focusing solely on criticism.
Abam noted that when leaders do the right thing, the citizens benefit, but when they fail, the people suffer, making continuous intercession for those in authority vital for national development. (NAN) www.nannews.ng
