No fewer than 1.7 million people have benefited from the humanitarian intervention programme of Sen. Abdulaziz Yari in Zamfara over the past three years.
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Chairman of the Sen. Abdulaziz Yari Palliative Distribution Committee, Dr Lawal Liman.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yari is a former governor of Zamfara and currently represents Zamfara West Senatorial District.
Liman said Yari approved 145 truckloads of maize and 42,000 bags of 10kg semovitafor distribution to internally displaced persons and vulnerable households across the state.
He said the beneficiaries would be drawn from the 14 local government areas as part of ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship and improve food security.
According to him, each local government area will receive 10 truckloads of maize and 3,000 bags of semovita for distribution.
He added that the remaining truckloads had been reserved to strengthen the distribution process and ensure that assistance reached communities most affected by the prevailing economic challenges.
Liman said no fewer than 210,000 residents across Zamfara’s 147 political wards had been targeted to benefit from the latest phase of the intervention.
He noted that the programme reflected Yari’s longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable families, especially in the face of persistent economic and social challenges.
According to him, the intervention has, over the past three years, provided food items, agricultural inputs and other relief materials to more than 1.7 million residents across the state.
Liman urged residents to continue to pray for President Bola Tinubu and Yari, seeking divine wisdom and strength to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
