The South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA), in partnership with the University of South Africa (UNISA), will host the 5th BRICS Summer School South Africa 2026 between Sept. 2 and 3, 2026.
The event is holding at the University of South Africa in Pretoria, according to TV BRICS, a NAN partner.
The two-day event with the theme ”Innovatively Inclusive Futures for BRICS and the Global South” will bring together approximately 150 participants.
It is an intensive programme of learning, dialogue, networking and international exchange and participants from 12 countries have been confirmed.
The opening ceremony will feature keynote addresses by Sindisiwe Chikunga, Minister in for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities in the Presidency, as well as Thandi Moraka, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.
The programme will explore key issues, including the history and development of BRICS, economic cooperation, opportunities within BRICS, reform of global governance, diplomacy and the changing role of the Global South.
The summer school will also provide a platform for students, researchers, young professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, youth leaders and other participants to engage with experts.
”The BRICS summer school is about ensuring that young people are not merely observers of changes taking place within BRICS and the Global South, but equipped with the knowledge, networks and platforms required to participate meaningfully in shaping the future.
“Bringing together young people from 12 countries provides an important opportunity to strengthen people-to-people relations and build a new generation of globally engaged young leaders,” said Raymond Matlala.
The two-day programme will feature lectures and discussions on BRICS cooperation and opportunities, financial cooperation, global governance reform and the New Development Bank.
It will also create opportunities for meaningful engagement between local and international participants.
