As the final quarter of 2025 unfolds, TEXEM UK has warned that the absence of strategic foresight among African leaders could have grave consequences for their nationsโ€™ economic survival.

Caroline Lucas, Director of Special Projects at TEXEM, aย UK-based leadership development organisation, gave the warning in a statement, urging leaders to โ€œwake up or stay down.โ€

Lucas noted that while Africaโ€™s economy continues to show signs of growth, theย recovery remains fragile and uneven.

โ€œThe AfDB, World Bank, and IMF project Africaโ€™sย growth near 4 per cent in 2025, but they also warn of debt headwinds,โ€ she said.

โ€œEveryย headwind is a test of a leaderโ€™s creativity. Some nations and companies will emergeย stronger simply because their leaders refused to be paralysed.โ€

Lucas stressed that in an era of volatility, the real question is whether leaders canย transform uncertainty into opportunity through disciplined foresight, innovation, andย collaborative strategy.

โ€œAfricaโ€™s progress will not be defined by the noise of itsย challenges but by the discipline of its leaders in turning volatility into vision. Theย measure of a great leader is not how loudly they predict change, but how quietly theyย prepare for it,โ€ she added.

To support leaders in building resilience and adaptability, Lucas announced thatย TEXEM will host a strategic programme titled โ€œNavigating Economic Uncertaintyย Successfully: Strategic Leadership in Turbulent Times.โ€

The four-day programme,ย holding from Nov. 24 to Nov. 27 in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, will bring togetherย senior executives from across Africaโ€™s public and private sectors.

Lucas said theย sessions would feature world-class faculty, including Prof. Nicholas Cheeseman, exย Oxford don, Dr T. B. (Mac) McClelland Jr., Former USA marine leader and Charles Crawford, who has collectively advised global corporations and governmentsย on strategic leadership, good governance, and transformation.

She observed that Africaโ€™s challenges mirror a global pattern, as reflected in the World.

โ€œItโ€™s a leadership course that exposed me to ideas vital in turbulent times. A good leader mustย act swiftly on innovative ideas and improve processes to stay aheadโ€โ€” Musa Jimoh, Director, Central Bank of Nigeria

Bankโ€™s Global Economic Prospects Report forecasts global growth to slow to itsย weakest pace since 2008, outside of recessions, due to rising trade barriers and policyย uncertainty.

The Bankโ€™s June 2025 half-year report projects global growth at 2.3 perย cent, underscoring the need for bold domestic reforms and global cooperation to tackleย mounting debt, climate threats, and fiscal instability.

Lucas cautioned Africanย policymakers and leaders in the private sector against complacency, urging them toย develop agile and winning strategies to move their economies from volatility to certainty.

โ€œTEXEM has packaged time-tested and customised solutions for participants that willย deliver win-win outcomes,โ€ she explained.

โ€œOur globally renowned faculty andย facilitators are committed to transferring practical knowledge that inspires successfulย strategic transformation in both leaders and their organisations.

โ€œThe TEXEMย methodology ensures deep learning through interactive tools, peer engagement, andย reflective practice. At TEXEM UK, we help leaders align teams, resources, and cultureย to turn strategy into sustainable success.โ€

Topics at the November programme will include actionable insights on Understandingย Global Economic Trends and Impacts; Strategic Decision-Making under Uncertainty;ย Financial Risk Management and Contingency Planning; Leading Through Recessionย and Recovery; and Building Resilient Business Models for the Future.

The initiative, she said, would empower leaders to thrive in an increasingly digital andย unpredictable business landscape.

The participation fee for the programme is ยฃ5,500,ย discounted to ยฃ4,750, with an early-payment option of ยฃ4,300 for those who registerย before Oct. 31.

The fee covers study materials and certification.

โ€œThe programmeโ€™s strength lies in its interactivity, fostering genuine engagement andย reflection. As a leader, I have been reminded that vision and resilience are indispensable,ย and that hope must be sustained even in the most challenging times.

โ€œMoving forward, I amย committed to greater transparency and accountabilityโ€”knowing that these virtues inspireย trust, strengthen confidence, and ultimately shape enduring leadership.โ€ย Sen. Mohammad Monguno.

โ€œItโ€™s the first time Iโ€™m doing a local programme in Nigeria, and itโ€™s quite interesting. The firstย thing I liked about it is the diversity of the participants. I also like the edgy conversations weย had with Christian and Alim. Itโ€™s quite thought provoking.โ€ย Mr Effiong Okon, the Operations Director at SEPLAT.
