NAN gets new Editor-ln-Chief

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has appointed Mr Ephraims Sheyin as the substantive Editor-In-Chief (EIC) of the agency.
Sheyin’s appointment was approved by the Managing Director of the agency, Mr Ali M. Ali on Monday in Abuja.
Details of the appointment indicated that it took effect from Dec. 5.
The new EIC takes over from Mr Silas Uzo Nwoha who retired from service on Dec. 4.
Until his appointment, Sheyin was Managing Editor in charge of Editorial Operations, and had previously served as Head, Lagos Operations of the agency.
He had earlier served as Manager of the Jos Zone of the agency before moving to Abuja where he headed the NAN Newsroom.
The new EIC was at various times the Head of NAN Features and Foreign Desks, among others.
He was also NAN District Correspondent in Wukari in the then Gongola State, before serving in similar capacity in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
In 1996, Sheyin won the Reuters Fellowship to study in Stanford University, California and later went to Oxford University to study Environmental Reporting.
He also attended the International Institute of Journalism, Berlin for his post-graduate studies.
Sheyin also attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he studied Literature in English.
He is a member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors and currently a member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos.
NAN’s managing director in the appointment letter, expressed confidence that the new EIC would discharge his duties diligently based on his track records and qualifications. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
