Sen. Ita Enang, former lawmaker representing Akwa Ibom North-East has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his appointment as a Non-Career Ambassador/ High Commissioner Designate.
Enang, who made the appreciation while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday, pledged his commitment to serving the nation meritoriously.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Enang’s nomination was part of the list of 31 Non-Career Ambassadors /High Commissioner Designates sent to the Senate by President Tinubu for confirmation.
Other notable nominees among the non-career ambassadors are Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo) and Sen. Folasade Bent (Adamawa) and Segun Ige (Edo).
Speaking, Enang said: “In the interest of Nigeria and the diplomatic community, I express my gratitude to Mr President.
“I thank the President for the nomination and I pledge to deliver my utmost best in the name of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu.
“I am grateful for the nomination and I will go through all the processes,” he said.
Enang, a legal luminary who has served as a politician since 1987 when he became a councilor and a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 1992.
He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1999. He served three terms as a member of the House of Representatives.
In April 2011, Enang contested for the Senate seat of Uyo (North-East) platform and won.
Enang served as the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari (late) on National Assembly Matters (Senate) from Aug. 27, 2015 to May 29, 2019.(NAN)
