Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has urged residents of Egor and Oredo Local Government Areas of the state to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okpebholo made the call on Monday during his visits to the two local government areas as part of efforts to mobilise party members and strengthen the APC ahead of the elections.
He lauded residents for their support and votes for APC candidates in the recently concluded local government area elections.
Okpebholo urged them to extend the support to APC candidates contesting the Senate, House of Representatives and Edo State House of Assembly seats in the 2027 elections.
He also urged the people to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying his administration remained committed to fulfilling the mandate given to it by Edo people.
“The turnout today in all the places visited in Egor and Oredo, despite the rain, speaks volumes of the love for the party and all our candidates in the general election, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We will continue to work according to the mandate Edo people gave to us. We will work for the growth and development of the state and the party.
“I am standing in the gap for President Tinubu and know we are all committed to ensuring we deliver 2.5 million votes for his re-election in 2027,” he said.
On the condition of roads in the state, the governor said his administration was working to rehabilitate bad roads inherited from previous administrations.
“The bad roads in the state didn’t happen today but the roads have been there before we came to power. We are working to ensure all the bad roads are fixed.
“We will work to ensure all roads in the state are motorable. This is the reason why you voted for us,” he added.
The Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, thanked party members for their continued support and urged them to vote for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Similarly, the Chairman of APC in the state, Mr Jarrett Tenebe, commended party members for their support for the party and the governor.
Tenebe said the party secured 2,158,600 votes during the local government elections, adding that the target of 2.5 million votes for Tinubu was achievable.
“We did it before during the local government elections where we gathered 2,158,600 votes.
“This has shown that the 2.5 million votes is very achievable. The governor is a party man and the party is doing well,” he said.
The chairmen of Egor and Oredo Local Government Areas, Mr Osaro Eribo and Mr Gabriel Iduseri, respectively, appealed to residents to sustain their support for the APC, its candidates and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. (NAN)
