A federal lawmaker, Rep. Eugene Dibiagwu (APC–Imo), has promised to deliver more dividends of democracy to his constituents if re-elected in 2027.
Dibiagwu, who represents Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said this in Abuja on Tuesday when he received the members of Izombe Central Union, Abuja Branch.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the union visited Dibiagwu to donate campaign materials including branded caps and T-shirt in support of his second term campaigns.
Dibiagwu said he was appreciative of the gesture as the donation served as a tonic for him to do more for his people.
“I want to assure you that I will not disappoint you people if re-elected. I will continue to keep the flag flying.
“My going back is a call for more dividends of democracy to the good people of our federal constituency,” he said.
He thanked the group for the donation, describing it as an uncommon love to him and is political ambition.
“Your gift is a demonstration that this project is not mine alone, but a collective project for the entire people of Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency.
“I want to convey my unreserved gratitude and thanks to the people of Izome Central Union, Abuja Branch for this show of concern and commitment to this project.
“It goes a long way to point out that you actually realised the reason why I am there and the reason why I should go back to continue representing our constituency.
“What you are doing by the donation of these campaign materials, you are actually challenging me to do more. I see all these supports coming from left, right and centre as a call for more duty,” he said.
Dibieagwu assured the people that he would not disappoint them.
“There are so many things I would like to do as soon as I return for second term. As we speak, different people are still bringing in materials to support my campaign rallies,” the lawmaker said.
Dibiagwu said the support he had received testified to the people’s appreciation of his efforts as their representative at the National Assembly.
He said that after due diligence on his electoral fortune ahead of Jan.16, 2027 exercise he concluded that he would emerge victorious.
“In spite of the possibility of my landslide victory, we are not leaving anything to chance.
“We are reaching out and would continue to reach out in spite of the fact that we know where we are at the grassroots. Be rest assured that we are going to make you proud,” he said.
He charged the members of ICU, Abuja branch, to ensure that they returned home during the election to vote as further demonstration of their support for his re-election.
Dibiagwu used the medium to advice the leadership of the union to continue to unify the people of Izombe in Abuja, assuring that he would continue to identify with the union as an illustrious son of the community.
Earlier Mr Valentine Onwuka, President of ICU, Abuja Branch and Chief Jude Ugochukwu-Fadas, a patron of the union in their separate speeches, said the campaign materials were a token of support to Dibiagwu for his second term bid.
Ugochukwu-Fadas told the lawmaker that the quantity of the materials presented to him did not matter but it was the intention behind the gift that mattered the most.
He commended Dibiagwu for his quality representation during his first tenure, saying the constituency witnessed impactful projects across the three local government areas that constitute the constituency.
“We want to place it on records that you have been fair in the distribution of projects and opportunities that accrued to your office since 2023.
“Our prayer is for God to continue to shield and lead you to victory during the next election,” he said.(NAN)
