Egypt won three of the four team titles at the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships, reaffirming their dominance in African youth table tennis.
The finals were played on Wednesday at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana.
The North Africans defeated Nigeria, Tunisia and Algeria to win the U-15 boys’ and U-15 girls’ titles, while retaining the U-19 girls’ crown.
Defending champions Nigeria endured a difficult campaign before edging hosts Ghana 3–2 in the semi-finals.
However, Egypt proved too strong in the final, producing a commanding 3–0 victory over Nigeria.
Ahmed Elsabbagh opened the scoring with a 3–0 win over Marvelous Joseph, 11–8, 11–5, 13–11.
Egypt’s talisman, Asser Sameh, then defeated Usman Ayoola 3–0, 11–9, 12–10, 11–7.
Hussein Eyad completed the rout with a clinical 3–0 victory over Samson Joshua, 11–9, 11–9, 11–8.
In the U-15 girls’ division, Egypt defeated Tunisia 3–1 to reclaim the title they surrendered to Uganda in 2025.
The Egyptians also retained their U-19 girls’ crown after overwhelming Algeria 3–0.
With three team titles secured, Egypt’s campaign in Accra further underlined its depth and enduring supremacy in African youth table tennis.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
