Fans celebrate Nollywood legend RMD   at 65

Fans of legendary Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD,  have celebrated him as he marks his 65th birthday on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ace actor earlier announced his birthday in a post on his verified Instagram account @mofedamijo, celebrating the milestone, reflecting on life, faith and gratitude.

He wrote:”65 years of Purpose. Presence. Grace.

“I’ve lived long enough to know that life owes us nothing…

“Yet, by God’s grace, it has given me everything that truly matters.

“The privilege to dream.

“The courage to begin.

“The strength to endure.

“The wisdom to evolve.

“The grace to remain.

“For every lesson.

“For every season.

“For every soul that has walked this journey with me…

“I am deeply grateful.

“The journey continues.”

Following the post, fans, well-wishers and industry colleagues have flooded social media with goodwill messages and prayers for the ace actor.

NAN reports that RMD was born on July 6, 1961 in Aladja, Delta State, and is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated actors, writers and film producers.

The veteran thespian began his career as a journalist and writer before venturing into acting, where he gained widespread recognition through the popular television soap opera Ripples in the late 1980s.

Over the years, RMD has starred in numerous Nollywood films and television productions, earning a reputation for his versatility, charisma and outstanding screen presence.

His remarkable contributions to the Nigerian film industry have earned him several honours, including the Best Actor in a Leading Role award.

Beyond entertainment, he  ventured into public service, serving as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State between 2009 and 2015, where he championed initiatives aimed at promoting the state’s cultural heritage and tourism potential.

Widely regarded as one of the pioneers and leading figures of Nollywood, RMD continues to influence the Nigerian entertainment industry through acting, mentorship and advocacy for the growth of the creative sector.(NAN)
