A man, Suleiman Adams, was on Tuesday arraigned before a Wuse Magistrates’ Court in Abuja over the alleged assault of his former lover.
Adams, who resides in Apo Resettlement in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) is facing a two-count charge of criminal force and assault.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.
The Prosecutor, Mr O.S Osho told the court that Adams allegedly assaulted the complainant, Ms Inmesil Ekpa of Safari Estates, Idu, after she ended their relationship.
Osho said the incident was reported at the Apo Police Station on April 15.
He alleged that the defendant inflicted injuries on Ekpa and prevented her from retrieving her belongings from his residence.
According to the prosecutor, Adams also forcefully seized the complainant’s handbag and mobile phone when she attempted to collect her belongings.
The Magistrate, Zubara Mangal, granted the defendant administrative bail.
Mangal ordered Adams to allow the complainant to remove her belongings from his residence.
She also advised both parties to resolve their differences amicably, regardless of their decision to part ways.
The case was adjourned until May 12 for a report of settlement. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
