MBNCWD disowns purported World Akara Day event in Abuja

The Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) has disowned a purported media conference and official inauguration of the World International Akara Day Festival allegedly linked to its premises in Abuja.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the centre, Dr Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The centre said it had no affiliation with the event, emphasising that no such programme was scheduled to hold at its premises or under its authority.

It described the use of its name, premises and officials in connection with the purported event as unauthorised, false and misleading, urging the public to disregard the claims and avoid dealings with organisers.

“The general public is hereby informed that the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD) is not in any way part of this event.

“Nothing of such is happening in the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development.

“The use of the name of MBNCWD, its premises, or any of its officials in connection with this purported event is unauthorised, false and misleading,” the disclaimer stated.

The centre added that it would not be liable for any transactions, commitments or engagements arising from the purported event and advised the public to rely solely on information released through its official channels.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
