AThe Chairman, Forum of National Youth Leaders of all Political Parties in Nigeria, Comrade Eze-Onyebuchi Chukwu, has called on young Nigerians to work across political differences to build a peaceful, prosperous and united country.

Chukwu made the call in a statement on Monday on the need for greater youth participation in national affairs.

He said political differences should not become national divisions, adding that young Nigerians could belong to different political parties, disagree on policies and compete politically while still working together in the national interest.

“Our political differences do not have to become national divisions.

“We can belong to different political parties, disagree on policies, compete politically and still cooperate in building a peaceful, prosperous and united Nigeria,” he said.

Chukwu said Nigeria had never lacked ideas but had faced challenges in translating good ideas into measurable action.

He urged young Nigerians to focus on practical solutions to challenges affecting the country, especially economic opportunities, skills development, political participation and national unity.

He said young people should seek greater participation in political decision-making beyond being mobilised as supporters during elections.

Chukwu also called for mechanisms that would ensure that policies and recommendations affecting young people were implemented and monitored.

He said young Nigerians should not focus only on the Nigeria they did not want but should articulate the country they wanted and identify practical pathways to achieving it.

The youth leader urged young Nigerians to take responsibility for the country’s future by combining demands for opportunities with preparedness to contribute meaningfully to national development.

“Speak but also listen. Demand but also propose. Criticise where necessary but provide alternatives. Seek opportunities but also prepare yourselves for responsibility,” he said.

Chukwu said young Nigerians must be prepared to contribute to national development rather than merely demand inclusion in decision-making processes.

“Do not only ask for a seat at the table. Prepare yourself for the responsibility that comes with sitting at that table.

“Let us participate. Let us contribute. Let us join to build. Above all, let us walk the talk,” he said. (NAN) www.nannews.ng
