The Bise Dazang Foundation, has congratulated Gen. Martin Luther Agwai on his conferment with the Grand Commander of the Order of Rokel (GCOR) by the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio.
The Trustee of the Bise Dazang Foundation, Nick Dazang, in a congratulatory message issued in Abuja, described the honour as, “a moment of profound joy and pride”.
Dazang noted that the prestigious award followed Agwai’s exemplary and luminous contributions toward engendering and consolidating peace in Sierra Leone and the wider West African sub-region.
“We followed with profound joy and pride, the recent conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of Rokel (GCOR) on your esteemed self by the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency, Julius Maada Bio.
“This prestigious honour followed your exemplary and luminous contributions in engendering and consolidating peace in Sierra Leone and the West African sub-region when you served as Deputy Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL).
“The recognition recalls for us, not only your sundry efforts to bring about peace in continental Africa but in other far flung jurisdictions of the world,” Dazang said.
According to Dazang, the conferment of the award celebrates Agwai, and by extension, Nigeria.
He explained that it recalled for the Foundation, with nostalgia, Nigeria’s once shining successes and elevated standing in the comity of nations.
He added that it rekindled genuine hope and inspired citizens to believe that Nigeria would reclaim her glory, if the will was summoned.
“This recognition, coming decades after, and in the aftermath of a slew of others, is a testament to the fact that Almighty God visits good to those who do good,” he said.
Dazang noted that the conferment should spur Agwai, all apostles of peace to do even more, especially as it coincided with a time when the country is confronted with heightened insecurity and terrorism.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng )
