The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA) has won two prestigious honours at the 8th Africa Supply Chain summit held in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that KWPPA, an agency in charge of regulating how government buys goods, works, and services in Kwara, has its core objectives to ensure probity, accountability and transparency in the public procurement process.
Reacting to the development in a chat with newsmen on Wednesday in Ilorin, Alhaji Raheem AbdulBaki, the General Manager, KWPPA, dedicated the honour to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the unwavering support and enabling leadership.
He also attributed the recognition to the hard work of the entire staff of the agency, saying “they have exhibited dedication and professionalism.”
AbdulBaki described the recognition as a collective achievement and urged the staff to remain committed to excellence.
“These awards belong to every member of staff whose dedication, discipline, teamwork, and professionalism have continued to strengthen the agency.
“Let this recognition inspire us to raise the bar even higher as we continue to make the agency and Kwara State proud,” he said.
According to him, the agency has continued to earn recognition within and beyond Nigeria for its commitment to transparency, accountability, and global best practices in public procurement.
“The latest honours further affirm the impact of AbdulRazaq administration’s reforms and the agency’s growing reputation as one of Africa’s emerging public procurement institutions.
“The awards reflect the success of the reforms introduced by the governor. His commitment to transparency, accountability, due process, and good governance has transformed public procurement in Kwara,” he said.
NAN reports that the agency received the Award of Excellence in Public Procurement Compliance for the year 2026.
Similarly, AbdulBaki was honoured with the Africa Top 50 Procurement and Supply Chain Leaders Award for his outstanding leadership and contributions to advancing public procurement practice.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
