Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central Zone have reaffirmed their commitment to securing the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 General Elections.
The stakeholders made this known after a closed-door meeting held on Thursday in Abuja and coordinated by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those at the meeting included the SGF, Sen. George Akume; governors of Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa states; and other key stakeholders from the zone.
Also present were the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; members of the National Assembly and other political appointees of the Tinubu administration from the zone.
The APC North Central Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the stakeholders had resolved to work together to secure the re-election of Tinubu and Shettima for a second term.
“We are stakeholders in the North Central Zone and members of the APC family.
“We agreed that we are united to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Malam Kashim Shettima, for a second term.
“This is because of his contributions to Nigeria and, specifically, what he has done in the North Central Zone in terms of projects, appointments and inclusive governance,” Yilwatda said.
He said the stakeholders would hold what he described as the “mother of all rallies” on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Yilwatda added that the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, would be the Special Guest of Honour at the rally.
According to him, governors, National Assembly members, ministers and other APC stakeholders have agreed to mobilise supporters for the event.
The chairman, on behalf of the stakeholders, expressed condolences to the families of Air Force personnel and civilians who lost their lives in the recent aircraft crash in Ondo State.
He also commiserated with the government and people of Niger over the death of miners, as well as families of victims of the boat mishap in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue.
NAN reports that a minute of silence was observed in honour of the victims of the incidents in Ondo, Niger and Benue.
Yilwatda said the stakeholders had also agreed to organise medical outreaches in some North Central states after the rally.
“We are going to have medical outreach in some states in the North Central as part of our contribution to ensuring that vulnerable people in our communities are given attention.
“We are also going to have a reconciliation committee that will go around the states to address grievances and wounds that arose during the course of the primary elections and congresses,” he said. (NAN)
